Mariana Lozynska

Software Developer | Pastry Chef | Dollmaker

“Motivated entry-level software engineer with MBA degree, hands-on managerial experience in marketing and business education, a mother of three, in pursuit of the most important career and life-style change.”

Having received good economic and management education as well as relevant business experience, I came to realise, through a lucky chance, during the COVID lockdown that coding is something that makes me really happy. General Assembly Software Engineering Immersive course turned out to be the best possible kickstart to my coding career. Covering a wide range of advanced techniques, the course was an incredibly rewarding experience that provided me with a fundamental understanding of the current programming landscape.

Staff and my fellow students were the best discovery. I learnt not only about coding but also about different approaches to problem solving and productive teamwork. Most important thing I’m taking from this experience is restless curiosity and an incessant drive to explore this profession further. I am very much looking forward to start my new life and career in software engineering.

Doll Making

"A dolls ability to uplift the human spirit can be immeasurable", Gayle Wray

My creative journey with dolls was inspired by my little daughter. When she saw a beautiful handmade textile doll in one of the handicraft art magazines she started to dream about having one. I decided not to buy it but to make a doll by myself. I was, and still am, fascinated by how pieces of fabric and other bits are gradually transformed into beautiful life-like creatures that start to live a life of their own.

Music

"Without music, life would be a mistake", Friedrich Nietzsche

Music has always been a part of my life. I believe music has a unique ability, through sounds, harmonies, timbres and rhythms, to convey all sorts of thoughts and emotions. Those of joy or sadness, happiness or despair, deep concentration or relaxation. Music can tell any story, create any image, call for any action, trigger any imagination. Music is much more than a universal language. It still remains an unresolved enigma. I am a proud mom of three young musicians with whom I study music as well. I adore classical music but also enjoy good old pop and rock.

Baking

"The softest pain on Earth must be the pain au chocolat", Alain Bremond-Torrent

I started baking as a child when I meticulously followed recipes for cookies and cakes when my grandma taught me the secrets of Polish and Ukrainian traditional cuisine. When I moved to London, I decided to push this family passion and tradition even further and received a Pastry Chef diploma from Le Cordon Bleu London culinary school.

I love to bake birthday cakes and cupcakes for my friends, friends of my children and, of course, for my beloved larger family. It is such a delightful and rewarding feeling of self-fulfilment to make people happy by presenting them a homemade delicacy.
